Aquara show their environmental commitment with online billing

Bills for the Calatayud municipal water service will be digitalised from next week onwards. This improvement is expected to save 2 million litres of water and 1 tonne of CO2.

Calatayud Town Council and Aquara, the town's municipal water service concessionary company, are deeply committed to sustainable resource management, which is why a number of environmentally friendly applications and channels have been included in the water service.

The most recent one is the implementation of paperless billing, which will be introduced over the course of next week. Thus, residents will receive digital instead of paper bills, and will be able to enjoy all the advantages this entails from that moment on.

One of the most significant advantages is the way the measure protects the environment and contributes to the fight against climate change. It is expected to save up to 2 million litres of water a year, equivalent to the water footprint generated by the complete billing process (issuing, printing and distribution) in Calatayud. In addition, the carbon footprint from the process is estimated to be 1 tonne of CO2, which will no longer be emitted into the atmosphere.

Along with these benefits, paperless billing also makes it easier for the town’s residents to manage their bills, as they can view them wherever they have an Internet connection. It will also speed the process up, as Aquara will inform users the moment the bills are issued, and be more secure, as only the account holder will be able to receive their personal and consumption details to their email address.

From the next quarter, bills will be available in the Aquara Online Office(https://aquara.aguasonline.es), with an individualised user name and password. When the municipal water service issues a new bill, Aquara will send a notification of its availability to the email address provided by the service user. Anyone who has not yet done so can provide their email address via the Online Office (https://aquara.aguasonline.es/contacta), sending an email to mifacturaonline@aquara.es or calling the customer service helpline: 902 250 230.
